The Avery Coonley School is a coed PreK-Grade 8 independent school serving bright and academically gifted students. The school is located in Downers Grove, a suburb 15 miles west of Chicago.

The following positions are currently open:

Title: AssistantDirector of Development – Alumni Relations

Reports to: Director of Development

Job Goal: The Assistant Director of Development for Alumni Relations is responsible for coordinating and expanding all aspects of an alumni program consistent with others in independent elementary schools.

Qualifications:

· Minimum 2 years experience working within an alumni relations office preferred

· Experience with cultivating relationships with students, parents, and alumni

· Experience in planning events and managing volunteers

· A bachelor's degree

· Strong understanding of integration of information technology and information

management; proficiency in Microsoft Office, and experience or ability to be trained in Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop a variety of ways to communicate with all alumni

· Research and profile the background of all alumni

· Create and coordinate an Alumni Board

· Develop and maintain the school-wide alumni database

· Plan, organize, and implement an annual alumni solicitation

· Plan, organize, and implement receptions and reunions and other special events

· Assist the Director of Development with Grandparents’ Day, the Annual Auction, and other school wide events

· Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Development and Head of School

· Ability to foster relationships with individuals and groups

· Ability to organize, set priorities, and manage multiple assignments

· Superb attention to detail

· An even-temperament and a sense of humor

Terms of Employment: Twelve-month year

Monday through Friday

8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
