Several students have represented ACS at recent chess tournaments with great success.

Top players from across the United States participated in the prestigious three-day All Girls National Chess Championship in Chicago on April 7-9.  Three of our students competed and performed very well:

  • In the 12U division, Annika Geiersbach (6th Group) won 4 of 6 matches, tying for 14th place, and after tie-breaks, took 22nd place.
  • In the 10U division, Neola Edwin (4th Group) won 2.5 of 6 matches, tying for 78th place, and after tie-breaks, took 90th place.
  • In the 8U division, Amaira Mittal (Kindergarten) won 3 of 6 matches, tying for 32nd place, and after tie-breaks, took 50th place.

On Sunday, April 23rd, Jake Izhaky (1st group), Benjamin McKendall (3rd group), and Neola Edwin (4th group) represented ACS at the 136th Knights Quest Chess Tournament in Deerfield. Together, they earned the 1st place team trophy in the U1000 category, and in the individual competition Benjamin took third place (out of 28 competitors).

Congratulations to all of our chess participants for their dedication and hard work this year!
