Makerspace & Robotics

Our Makerspace is more than just a room with tools; it is a hands-on learning environment where creativity, engineering, and real-world problem-solving converge. Students from Preschool through Middle School engage in project-oriented learning, transforming ideas into tangible projects.
From Ideas to Impact: TinkerCAD and 3D Printing in Action
Teachers and staff utilize our Makerspace to support students by using TinkerCAD, Cricut, laser cutting, and 3D printing. Whether they’re designing hydroponic garden components or prototyping parts for our forest weather station, students gain experience with the design-build-iterate process that real engineers use every day.
State-of-the-Art Tools for Everything Imaginable
Fully equipped with professional-grade technology, our Makerspace can support everything from beginner projects to advanced prototyping. Our Makerspace is outfitted with:
- 3D Printers
- Glowforge Pro/Plus Laser Cutters
- Industrial Laser Cutters
- Vinyl, Paper, and Wood Cutters
- Robotics and Coding Kits
- Power Tools, Electronics, and Hardware

Program Highlights
Lower School STEAM Lab
The STEAM Lab is integrated with homeroom learning through capstone projects and early explorations in coding, circuits, and robotics. Students design and print custom manipulatives using Tinkercad and 3D printing. LEGO® SPIKETM and Essential LEGO robot builds connect to and deepen coding lessons. Seasonal sustainability projects, like laser-cut bird feeders and leaf identification projects, connect design with real-world applications while building core technology skills.
Middle School STEAM Projects
Students engage in dynamic classroom projects and engineering challenges using advanced CAD tools, Cricut machines, and 3D printers to create sustainable designs. Robotics projects link directly to coding in Python and Java, bridging theory and application. These experiences promote cross-curricular problem-solving by merging art, science, and technology, encouraging students to think critically and collaboratively across disciplines.
Award Winning Robotics Teams
From brainstorming and coding to testing and refining, all aspects of our Robotics teams’ work happens in the Makerspace.
Our Lower School and Middle School teams have been invited to the FIRST® World Championship in Houston for two consecutive years, where they showcased their sustainable innovations alongside teams from around the world.
Creativity is thinking up new things. Innovation is doing new things.
