Arsalan Iftikhar, international human rights lawyer, global media commentator, and noted author, is giving a presentation, followed by a book-signing, in the Avery Coonley School Performing Arts Center. Mr. Iftikhar is the author of SCAPEGOATS: How Islamophobia Helps Our Enemies, and Islamic Pacifism: Global Muslims in the Post-Osama Era, as well as an Avery Coonley alum.

This will be a great opportunity to learn more about:

     - How to create welcoming and inclusive communities

     - Promoting tolerance and understanding toward Muslim families

     - Issues facing Muslim communities in America post-9/11

Arsalan Iftikhar is a faculty member at Georgetown University‚Äôs Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service where he researches and writes about Islamophobia as a Senior Fellow for The Bridge Initiative. For over a decade, Arsalan has been a regular on-air commentator for National Public Radio (NPR) and he was also named one of the top 12 Muslim Twitter accounts in the world by The Huffington Post in May 2011. He is a member of the Avery Coonley Class of 1991.
