ACS Family Day of Service to Renovate the Old Barn

Parents, students, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to join us on Saturday, July 29th, for a hands-on day of service as we kick off renovations of the old barn!

This year's Auction Fund-a-Need was the renovation of the barn, one of the great historic buildings on the Avery Coonley campus. The old barn was the epitome of “hands-on learning” in the 1930s. Students constructed the barn and cared for the farm animals in this center of activity. Eighty-plus years later, the historic barn still sits on the beautiful grounds of campus, but its beauty and purpose has faded.

Roll up your sleeves and join us as we address the structural needs of the barn! Projects that will be addressed on this service day include electrical, insulation, flooring, window treatments, and painting.

Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary! ACS will provide training, tools, and equipment. If you have hand tools you can bring with, please do so.

The day will run from 9am-3pm, and we are seeking volunteers for two shifts: 9am-12pm and 12pm-3pm. ACS will provide lunch for all volunteers at approximately 11:45 am.

Students of all ages are welcome to attend with their parents. We are also looking for a few volunteers to supervise outdoor activities for younger children.
