Happy Earth Month! If your April includes a little spring cleaning, the Go Green committee is collecting some items for reuse and recycling.

Beginning this month, through the end of the school year, it's the Three T's - toothbrushes, towels and TP tubes. The towels and tubes will go to Brookfield Zoo, and the toothbrushes and floss containers will get shipped off for recycling. Run your toothbrushes through the dishwasher first, please, before dropping these items off at the front desk.

We're also continuing to collect dried-out markers of all types that get sent to Crayola's recycling program - look for more on this at the end of the year when everyone cleans out their desks.

At the end of the month, ACS will receive its Earth Flag from DuPage County. The flag recognizes the school's work to institute a lunchroom composting and recycling program. Work began last year with a lunchroom waste audit and continued this year with a student-made video and lunchroom sorting stations - check out the colorful signs in the commons next time you visit.

Finally, stay tuned for information on how to participate in the DuPage River Sweep cleanup on May 19!
