Purpose of the Plan

Our Campus Master Plan serves as a flexible, future-focused framework — a living guide that aligns our physical environment with our mission and values. It helps ensure that decisions about space, facilities, and investment remain thoughtful, strategic, and mission-aligned — so that ACS continues to offer gifted learners an environment that inspires curiosity, creativity, and deep engagement.

This plan centers around three major drivers: supporting innovative learning, honoring the outdoor spaces that define our identity, and preparing our campus for intentional, phased growth. These priorities emerged directly from the voices of our community — students, families, faculty, alumni, trustees, and neighbors — and are grounded in data, analysis, and extensive engagement throughout 2024.

Each phase is designed to be actionable, responsible, and sustainable — balancing immediate needs such as improved traffic flow, accessibility, and flexible learning spaces, with thoughtful preparation for future opportunities, including potential expansion and new programmatic assets.

Together, we will bring this plan to life — ensuring that ACS remains a place where gifted learners thrive within a campus that is as dynamic, inspiring, and forward-thinking as the students who learn here.

Construction Phases:

The ACS Campus Master Plan 2025-2050 provides a flexible, phased road map – one that aligns space with curriculum, and prepares ACS to meet the needs of future learners. In order to align with the School’s Strategic Plan 2025-2030, The Board of Trustees has prioritized the following phases of the Campus Master Plan. The priorities support expanding learning environments.

Phase One:

Locker Room Conversion & Pavilion

Phase One will focus on transforming the underutilized lower-level locker room into a flexible space for classroom instruction, fine arts, and meetings. In addition, this phase includes the construction of a new pavilion, creating an engaging outdoor venue for performances, assemblies, and school events.

Phase Two:

3-Story Addition

Phase Two will include construction of a three-story addition providing approximately 15,000 square feet of new space, with 5,000 square feet on each level. Located northeast of the Middle School, the addition will feature a full-service kitchen, a learning kitchen, a STEAM innovation lab, an expanded Commons, eight classrooms, and shared collaborative areas.

Future Phases:

The graphic below shows an overview of the vision for the campus expansion and development over the next 25 years. Plans include reconfiguring the campus to improve traffic patterns and parking.
