Campus Master Planning 2024

A Campus Master Plan is collaborative process to creating a road map to facility improvement. The goal is to understand all challenges of the current facility, site, building, and educational delivery. Without preconceived notions, we will collaboratively work to solve these challenges in an innovative, logical, budget consensus, and phased approach.

A Campus Master Plan will help align our facilities with our Strategic Plan prioritizing projects. Having a road map to facility improvement will help guide decisions moving projects forward in a budget consensus and time effective process. 

The collaborative process includes Five Steps:

1. Gather – Collection of all research data to inform decisions. This includes facilities assessments of existing conditions of both site and buildings, educational adequacy of facilities to support curriculum delivery both now and the future, and alignment of facilities with strategic plan.
2. Envision - Creation of a vision statement to describe the goals and objectives of the facilities both now and in the future.
3. Define – Development of a program describing wants, needs, adjacencies, quantity and quality of spaces required.
4. Consider – Brainstorming of multiple options for solving the challenges of the research data, vision statement, and program document. Creation of diagrams of the options and preliminary budgets.
5. Transform – Analyzation of options with pros and cons, priorities, phasing, and next steps. Creation of report with recommendations.

The Campus Master Plan Steering Committee — co-chaired by ACS alumni and trustees Nancy Doris and Kevin Peterson, and comprised of faculty, staff, and parents — will lead the master planning effort for the school. Parents, community members, faculty and staff will be invited to participate in the public engagement sessions. Students, faculty, staff, and administrators will be surveyed as part of the educational adequacy data gathering.

April 22, 2024, will be the first of three public engagement sessions where we will collaborate on the Envision and Define phases of the Campus Master Plan.

October 15 and 22, 2024, will be the second round of public engagement sessions where we will collaborate on the Consider and Transform phases of the Campus Master Plan.

Parents are invited to participate in the two public engagement sessions. There will be updates on the Campus Master Planning Process on this page so that if you are unable to attend you can receive updates. All voices are welcome.

Students will be anonymously surveyed about their opinions of the facilities to gather data on improvements they would like to encourage them to learn. Students are also welcome to participate in the two public engagement sessions. All voices are welcome.

Construction will not begin until projects are identified through the campus master planning process. The earliest any projects would proceed would be after the Campus Master Plan is approved and the projects are funded – earliest possible for small projects would be summer of 2025, larger projects summer of 2026.
