I am so profoundly honored to be Avery Coonley's head of school. The School's enduring mission and the community's abiding commitment to nurturing the whole child speak to the deeper purpose of education. Avery Coonley is a school with a rich history rooted in progressive ideals and constructivist models, defining a unique space for gifted learners. I witness the magic of joy, wonder, and curiosity throughout ACS. I am humbled and thrilled to be part of the ACS community.

Nancy Nassr
Head of School 

Nancy Nassr brings extensive leadership, teaching, and school-improvement experience to The Avery Coonley School. Before joining ACS as Head of School, she served as Assistant Head of School and Academic Dean at Lake Forest Academy and as Head of School at The Ancona School. Throughout her career, Ms. Nassr has led work in academic innovation, faculty development, organizational strategy, student support, and community engagement while remaining deeply committed to the transformative relationship between students and their teachers. Ms. Nassr holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Secondary Education from the University of Illinois Chicago. She is a licensed educator and principal in the State of Illinois and sits on multiple nonprofit boards.
