Timeline 2024

LETTER FROM THE COMMITTEE

We are pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees, in conjunction with Dr. Montgomery, has begun the process of creating Avery Coonley’s next Strategic Plan.

The Board adopted a resolution creating a Strategic Planning Steering Committee in November immediately following our successful reaccreditation visit with a delegation from the Independent Schools Association of Central States (ISACS). This steering committee consists of trustees, faculty, administrators, and parents who will meet throughout the year-long process in 2024 to shape the planning agenda, review intermediate analysis, and offer feedback on priorities and goals.

Avery Coonley is approaching this strategic planning process from a position of strength and enthusiasm for the future while recognizing that we have much work to do to be the best school that we can be. Developing a new strategic plan to guide decisions and action for the future is the next critical step in a several-year period of reflection, discussion, and analysis at Avery Coonley. Under the leadership of the trustees and Dr. Montgomery, the new strategic plan will set clear priorities for Avery Coonley and, in conjunction with a simultaneous campus master planning process, provide a foundation for strengthening our programming, making facilities investments, and conducting future fundraising.

We will look for valuable input from every Avery Coonley constituency group over the course of our planning. Some of this input has already been solicited via the community surveys coordinated by Independent School Management (ISM) that were wrapped up in January and parent focus groups conducted in February. You are also invited to submit anonymous feedback or commentary through the link provided on this page or by emailing the Strategic Planning Steering Committee at strategicplanning@averycoonley.org. We promise your thoughts and ideas will be carefully considered. Thank you in advance for your participation in this important endeavor. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at any time with any questions or concerns.

With great appreciation,
