Anna Lenhardt joined the ACS community in 1982, having spent the previous 8 years in Westchester as a Middle School Language Arts and Social Studies teacher, and one of the developers of the district’s gifted program for language arts. In addition to her duties as Fifth and Sixth Group Language Arts and Social Studies teacher, in her second year at ACS, she established the Chess Club and assumed sponsorship of the Student Council, expanding it to include students in Groups 1 – 8. In 1985, the first yearbook was published as a Student Council project. In 1987, she was appointed Middle School coordinator. She chaired the committee that developed the Middle School advisory program in 1995. In the fall of 2001, she became the Academic Dean, and in the fall of 2013 she was appointed Middle School Head. She also serves on the Policy and Planning Committee of the Board of Trustees and the ACS Alumni Council. While enjoying her administrative responsibilities, she maintains close contact with students by sponsoring a very active Student Council.

Mrs. Lenhardt is a member of a number of educational organizations, including NAGC, IAGC, AMLE (Association for Middle Level Education), ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education), and IAJHSC (Illinois Association of Junior High Student Councils). A two-time Golden Apple nominee, she has also been a presenter at both ISACS and LMAIS conferences and has attended numerous local and national conferences on technology, standardized testing, and gifted education. She especially enjoys contact with ACS alums and has made it a point to connect with them when she travels to out-of-state conferences.

Outside of ACS, Anna enjoys reading, gardening, and singing with her church choir. She spends time each summer enjoying the north woods of Wisconsin and cheering for the Cubs.
