Elizabeth Roberts began teaching at The Avery Coonley School in 2004, after one year as an English teaching assistant in Lisieux, Normandy. Shortly after starting at ACS, Mme Roberts participated in a five-week-seminar on French Cultural Identity sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities. In 2008, she completed a Master’s Degree in French Language and Civilization from NYU in Paris.

Along with her colleague Mme Clivaz, Mme Roberts has written and published a curriculum for the instruction of foreign language in elementary schools. Their “Real Language, Right Away” curriculum has become a popular tool for foreign language teachers seeking a more conversational, communicative approach. Mme Clivaz and Mme Roberts have presented at numerous conferences including the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Language, the Central States Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Language, the Southern Conference on Language Teaching, and the American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages conference.

Mme Roberts enjoys traveling and has been to Jordan, Guatemala, Honduras, and many parts of Europe. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, church activities, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
