Sarah Batzel

Sarah Batzel joined The Avery Coonley School full time in 2010 after filling in as a long-term substitute teacher during the 2009-2010 school year. Prior to ACS, Mrs. Batzel worked at the Apple Store as a Mac Specialist and trainer, and is passionate about helping students utilize technology as a tool for learning and creating. In addition to teaching at ACS, Mrs. Batzel has taught several children’s enrichment courses through Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development and Dominican University’s Gifted and Talented Program.

Mrs. Batzel continually seeks out professional development opportunities to improve her craft. In 2012, Mrs. Batzel attended the week-long New and Aspiring School Leaders seminar at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. In 2013, she attended the two-week Klingenstein Summer Institute for Early Career Teachers through Teachers College, Columbia University. In 2014, she attended Project Zero, a week-long seminar at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. In 2018, Mrs. Batzel attended the national social studies conference and presented at the Sycamore School Gifted Summit in Indiana. In 2019, she will be presenting again at the Sycamore School Gifted Summit and serving on an ISACS accreditation committee for a school visit in Michigan.

Sarah graduated from college when she was eighteen and graduate school at nineteen. She has worked professionally in the performing arts and hosted her own television show for two years. She is a certified scuba diver and enjoys being creative with arts and crafts.
