Alexis Bryant

Alexis Bryant joined the faculty of The Avery Coonley School as a Literacy teacher in 2013. Ms. Bryant has worked in education for the last thirteen years, with the majority of the time spent as a middle school English teacher. Prior to landing in Illinois, Alexis spent three years in Arizona, where she taught Fifth and Sixth grade English at BASIS Peoria (AZ) and developed curriculum used in conjunction with interactive whiteboards at a Phoenix-based education company. Ms. Bryant also taught Sixth grade English at the Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, MD.

Ms. Bryant is a member of the NCTE and has attended various workshops on writing and reading, including Readers Workshop, through Teachers College of Columbia University. Additionally, Ms. Bryant has conducted trainings to educators across the United States on how to most effectively integrate educational technology into their curriculums.

When not sharing her love of Literacy with her students, Ms. Bryant enjoys impressing people with her vast knowledge of pop culture. She also delights in writing poetry and sampling the delicious cuisine available to her throughout the Chicago area. Ms. Bryant loves cheering for the New York Yankees and the New York Giants, which can sometimes be an exercise in futility.
